My bike won't idle whatsoever, I leaned that thing out until it started surging when you were riding and let off the gas and pulled the clutch in. Bumped it back up a couple sizes, real crisp throttle respons off idle, but it won't sit there and keep running after a few seconds.

For the record, I have never set the idle on a 2 stroke, NEVER! A 4 stroke needs the idle set super high, to negotiate a track, or it will die. I am damn near as old school as it gets, you turn the throttle. You guys thread jumping, check your specific carb, it may not even have an idle circuit, it could have a slide stop adjustment. If you want it to idle while you are running into a store for a pack of smokes, quit smoking! Eddie1's issues were different, in than it would not idle because of the needle, was way off!
