Before Friday, I considered myself of average intelligence. I think I was optimistic. Wet tennis shoes and a sloped front yard ended up in one of my most stupid stunts to date.

To quote Stan March, "I've learned something today."

Man, that's a nice goose egg. I hope nothing's broken. We have some hills to climb at Muenster.

I bet that won't even slow him down. A little scratch with a bigggggg bump.

I have a boy that still likes his tennis shoes more than common sense. I think I will show him this picture.

You should. I'll post the pictures of my black and blue foot. It's been 5 days, and the big knot is gone, but my ankle is so swolen you can barely see the ankle bone on the inside. You still can't see the veins and wrinkles on my foot. I though for sure the swelling would subside by now.

Raquetball was painful tonight. :)

I had one similar to that caused by kickstarting a WR with shorts on. I was smart enough not to show it off though!!! LOL

Not a bike accident, but I was wearing tennis shoes and mowing the yard on a big slope early one morning. Dew was still out on the grass and I slid, foot went under the mower. Learned 2 lessons. Wear boots when using a push mower AND do NOT tie down that bar that turns the mower off when you let go. I still have my toes thanks to it. When I was falling I let go of the bar and the was spinning down as my foot went under. Still can't bend my big toe but at least its there. I see too many people that tie the bar down with string so they can let the mower run while they run to pick up some trash or something as they mow. Don't do it. So I already learned not to ride my bike w/o jeans, heltmet and boots, at the LEAST.

When I was 9 or 10 I had an XR80 ('85 model I think?). Those bikes came with a little rubber sleeve around the horizontal part of the kickstarter that helped with traction. Mine was lost long before I was given the bike. We were too poor for me to have boots so I always rode in tennis shoes. I don't think a week passed as long as I owned that bike that my leg didn't look like that. Every third kick my foot would slip off the kickstarter and my shin would smack the foot peg. Man, makes me cringe thinking about it!
