Thats what I've always heard that Wiseco pistons use only Wiseco Rings.
Checked my Parts Unlimted catalog under Wiseco replacement ring sets and it states NOTE:Wiseco rings fit only Wiseco pistons.
If the ring fits the piston, is the right style and width all easy to check, it will work its not magic. If I sold pistons I would say you had to use my rings also.
I have to support this qoute, defently take this advise. The newer bikes are more paticular. I discovered that if the bike runs on a 100psi, it has to be that way or it dosen't run. Plus with what it cost for replacements....
I would just get the Wiseco ring for the Wiseco piston you already have. To be on the safe side. What if you use the OEM mix for a short cut fix to end up with a High Expensive
repaire latter....not a good ideal.. :whoa:
The most important thing is that you set the ring gaps. If you run a Honda ring in a Wiseco piston, make sure you use the Wiseco ring gap specs. Depending on the design of the piston, the rings will run hotter or cooler and require different gaps as a result. It is always better to error on the loose side when setting piston ring gaps. The construction of the rings is the same regardless of the piston. Honda and Wiseco both use moly faced rings.
