OK, the racing at Hangtown was awesome and exciting but when I saw it on OLN last night it was almost boring. I wish we could get some of the energy and excitment those commentators north of the border have. The guys at OLN just aren't doing it for me..... :(

I also couldn't believe it when Reed mentioned that this is probably his last year! I guess he is tired of being a 2nd place guy.

Well I guess he will get tired of Supercross then too since he will continue to be a second place guy there as well. Except when RC comes back for select races at which point he will be a third place guy.

I didn't check, but the announcers covering Hangtown for OLN sounded like Dave Despain and David Bailey – two of the most knowledgeable and well-thought-of motorcycle announcers in the business.

OLN could not have gotten two more qualified guys for covering the Outdoor Nationals.

Good job OLN.

Nope, it was Pingree and Drebber that were commentating.

I liked ESPN... I liked SPEED... Not a big fan of OLN's next week coverage and their boring commentators. Seriously, I don't understand how OLN can show reruns of the same 2 or three shows every day, but they can't fit the Nat's in for an hour on Sunday? Even if it's at 3 in the morning or whenever.

I was also expecting much more after following the excitement of the Hangtown thread. I suppose live coverage (even if it's just audio) is usually more exciting.

commentators make a huge impact to the excitement and energy of a race. When I see a Canadian race, and I don't even know any of the racers, it is hugely entertaining just because of the guys calling the show.

Agree ... while the camera coverage was good and the editing decent, the commentators REALLY need to step it up. Listening to the webcast I was literally on the edge of my seat. The TV broadcast did nothing to win any new fans over and basically made one of the best moto's in recent history seem average.

I understand there might be some logistical and scheduling issues, but I can't figure why they'd wait a week . . .!?

Do they really think more people will watch a week later than a day or two later just because it's the weekend again? Geez. If they edited it and showed it on Sunday night or Monday evening, I wouldn't read the spoilers and it would be more exciting.

Yep. It's difficult to draw ratings and justify showing it same day or live when you're announcers make the casual watcher turn the channel. :bang:

Yeah and the truth is I really liked everything they did for the supercross season. I feel that they should do that same coverage plan with SPEED. Denny Stevenson and Ralph Shaheen were great. At Vegas, there wasn't even much of race but they still had us on the edge of our seats,

That's the thing I don't understand. Why wait a week to show the races, and why can't they do them back-to-back anymore?

It's not like OLN is bumping CIS, or Lost, or American Idol :uh: to show motorcyle racing, especially if they aired it in the early morning hours.

I can live with seeing it a week later and boring commentators, what I can't stand is them cramming two 35 min motos, side stories and commercials into one hour. They only showed about 4 total laps of moto 2 at Hangtown. I don't know about the rest of you but as a fan I would like to see the damn race. They could do it in a 90min show. I would also like to see a scrolling bar showing the position of each rider, you know, like every other broadcaster in the world shows during motor racing. I hate to sound like a whiner but their coverage just plain sucks. I don't know how much say Toyota has in negotiating the TV contracts but they can't be pleased either.

Oln Mx

May I remind the court of MX losing out to spelling bees, lacrosse, chess, women's NCAA basketball, and NASCAR rain delays (Sissies! What is the problem? They have windshields?)
Pingree is pretty good, give 'em a chance. I am happy the races are actually shown when they are scheduled.
Perhaps, I am just beaten down by ESPN2, Speed, and NBC :whoa:
