How tighlty packed should the packing material be. I purchased the correct stuff and proceeded to wrap it snuggly around the pipe, the end result was slightly larger in diameter than the housing. I then proceeded to gently slide the assembly back into the housing. Been as it was slightly large diameter I had to squash it in a little. Does this sound rougly correct or have I packed it to much.
Its on a FMF aftermarket rear silencer.
Thanks.

It shouldn`t be packed real tight. If you have to squish it down a little to get it in the outer casing its not a problem.

Something that I have always seen used is masking tape. Wrap it around the packing so that it will not all slide to the back of the muffler when you are squeezing it in. Also helps with getting it to fit. My cousin and his friend have done this and never had any problems with their mufflers. (they ride a CR250 and a RM 250)
