I'm interested in paintball, and was wondering if someone involved in it would be interested in giving me some info about markers, etc. Thanks in advance.:think
I recently did paint ball for the 1st time ever. Our P.E (physical education) class went and did it up by Silver Star(at bush whackers). It is so much fun, but we were half way up a mtn and it was really cold, so yes the paintballs were hard and stung when they hit you. However it is really expensive though. It dont seem like it, but you can go through alot of balls fast. 500 balls were $40 canadian, and 1000 balls were $75.I spent close to $50 for 1 hour and a half and i was taken it easy on the balls. :)
ya, pretty much the same as cr125_king said: a lot of fun but really expensive!!. Ive only been once and it was in the heat of the summer and you get really hot running around and stuff but it is funner than you may think. I spend close to $60 for a couple hours and most of the money went towards buying paintballs! There like 10 cents each!! If you go to Canadian Tire, you can pick them up for about 5 cents each, in buckets of like 500 or so.
Yes it's tons of fun...leaves bruises, but the balls just sting. The expense kinda took it out of me.I used to play almost every other weekend, but since money started taking it's toll I haven't played in more than 5 months.:scream:
I have been playing for a few years. When I just played with my friends who were all at about he same level it was real fun. But I have been playing on the club team at here at college and it hasn't been as much fun. Mostly because these people are really good and use $1000-$2000 dollar guns. It can cost as much as a riding, but not as much fun. It doesn't really hurt like some people might think.
Wanabe:your right. It dont hurt as much as people think it does. But when i went paintballing, these too grade 12's from my school(professional paintballers). They got $1500 guns and when you get hit by one of those you know it, but the other cheap guns out there dont even hurt at all. I got smoked once by one of the pro kids in my elbow, and that stung like a b**ch.
There are limits to how high your fps can be in tourneys. When we played one of my friends who is real big on it had a fps tester thing where u shot threw 2 wires so we all were shooting the same speed. No telling what they had there guns turned up to.I have a spyder SE with 14 in. J an J ceramic barrel and rear cocking.I liked it pretty good accuracy, but seemed to jusst start breaking all of a sudden.Maybe I was to rough on it or just didn' t take care of it.:think
I'm interested in getting a marker, some stuff and just playing with friends, nothing serious. I know that markers are around $100 for a half decent one, then you have to buy CO2 cartridges and paintballs and maybe protective gear. I was just wondering if anyone knows of fairly good guns for under $100? Thanks.
I bought a cheapo brass eagle marker at wal-mart for about $35, then got the constant air adapter so I could use tanks instead of those tiny cartridges, fairly accurate and man what a blast to shoot :)
the balls don't really sting all that bad, I got hit in the temple by one and it didn't even bruise. For 1000 balls here it's like $35
I think I bought my stingray for around 100:think it was alright a plastic semi-automatic...but just look around.Maybe look at used ones or something. The only protective gear I wore was the facemask, pants, and like a jacket or long sleeve shirt for when you hit the ground or whatever.
I'm not looking at Semi-auto markers. I'm looking at the Brass Eagle Talon Ghost, Tigershark Crystal, or Saber. Does anyone have any prices in canadian dollars on these markers?
don't get a pump gun if you will be playing with people semi-auto guns. you will be at a big dsiadvantage. You can get a Spyder compact for about $100. I think they are real good, simple and easy to work on. And make sure to get a good mask.
Since nobody has mentioned it yet I'll throw the Piranha into the mix. They sell a starter kit sometimes that comes with the Piranha marker, faceshield, ball hopper, and elbow. Where I bought mine they offered upgrades(of course) for a few dollars more.
The best part about the gun is the ability to field strip it with no tools.:) This comes in very handy when you splatter a paintball inside the marker.
I have been playing paintball for years it is a very fun sport. If you wanna start i would recomend a Spyder paintball gun from www.paintballgear.com its what i started with and i have worked my way up to a $1000 Automag.
The only time I would find using a pump gun equal or as much fun as a semi would be when everybody else is using one.Which rarely happens.:think Just go for a spyder my friends have them and they are reliable and not to expensive.
I used to play paintball, but it got kinda old and everone stopped playing it around here. I had a Shocker with a turbo board in it (most probably don't know what it is), and man did that thing shoot fast when the turbo kicked in. I could empty a hopper in 15 secs! :p I never should have spent that much money on a paintball gun, though, because it was $1300 for the gun and a 4500PSI nitro tank. Then I had to pay $80 a case for paintballs and I'd go through them in a weekend. Then once I got a dirtbike, paintball didn't seem as fun anymore.
Man, if you want a good gun at a fairly good price, get a Raptor X-treme, from Brass Eagle, those are their tournament grade guns. Plus they look pretty good too. Piranha's aren't that bad either, but I'd love to have a cocker, or a Bruizer
:p
I played to day it was fun I'vliked paint ball since I tried it.
to day was ok but it was cold.I got hit 12 times 5 of wich were in the mask
my ghillie suit hides my body but my mask is always easy to see
I was refilling my hopper in the fort and two there guys were in there with me
some one came up behind us with an auto that costed him 3000 bucks
he just sprayed us with balls but all those ball count as one hit
because it was in one fight
then he took us hostage but a sniper wasted him from like 10 feet god ghillie suits are cool
The raptor is still too expensive. I'm going to get a pump, if I get one. I will probably get either the Brass Eagle Talon ghost or Tigershark Crystal.
IMO, I'd spend the extra few dollars for a semi. I've played with both, and as an amateur, I can say that there's a huge difference between the two. I constantly gave up so many opportunities for kills because of double pumping in the heat of battle and fouling the bore. It can't really be that much more, and if you plan on playing more than once or twice a year, you'll be happy you started with the semi. Like Papakeith said, you can get the kit which comes with a tank (very economical over the long run). And the last two times I played, one tank lasted through 500 rds (used over the whole day).
What we do (my unce and friends) is rent guns, takns & masks for the day. 8 of us, plus 500 balls each, and the cost is under $50 ea. I'll continue to do it this way, as I don't know anyone else who plays (hint- any DRn'ers out there in Central Cal who play recreationally?).
