WOOHOO! My new bike is in (02 YZ250) and I am picking it up tomorrow morning! I am a virgin when it comes to new bikes, this is my first one. All I've bought in the past was used. I can't wait to grease her up and break her in...

As a woods rider, I hate the first scratch syndrome. When you get it just drop it right there at the dealership and get it over with.:p

That's what I did with my new truck. Took it from the dealers, drove over to show a friend, stopped for a soda at a gas station and scrapped one of those cement filled steel posts. Put a 4 inch deep dent from the middle of the passenger side door almost to the wheel well. Little scratches don't bother me any more.
It seems the truck is about 8 inches wider than the car I had been driving.
DOOH!!!!

Congrats on the new bike, I just bought my son a 2002 YZ85, seems great. All the 2002 YZs look very nice.

Or you could just have someone else lay her down for ya! When Agent Orange got his 380 EXC last summer, his 5-year old was nice enough to tip it over in the garage. Torn grip, couple scratches, etc. Dontcha just love kids?! Our general rule is: No one rides a guy's new bike until he lays it down.:) Except EVERYONE rode my new KTM this summer! Luckily no one laid it down, but I did take plenty o' pictures the day I brought her home from the dealer!

Congrats on the new bike. I would suggest that you go through the bike and lube all of the linkages and bearings, as the factory grease can be almost non-existent. Use a good quality grease like Maxima Waterproof grease. Also check the air filter, as the filter can lack sufficient filter oil. Check all vital fluids. I would do a complete once over on the bike before the first ride. Last year my friend and I did this with his new CR250 and the headset, wheel, and suspension bearings were all nearly dry. We also greased his axles and rear brake peddle pivot. We put Neverseize on his axle adjuster bolts and brake caliper pins. His air filter was never oiled from the factory. We also found a few bolts that were not torqued to spec.

And all this after a $250 set up fee.......:think

Man, do I feel like a little kid at Christmas time or what?! This thing is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! I realize the factory is kinda cheap on the grease, so this is what I'm gonna do tomorrow morning before I take it out on Sunday...

Grease the Head set, shock linkage, swing arm, and wheel bearings.
Grease the brake pedal pivot.
Atin-seize compound on axle adjusters
Check spokes

I already took a peek at the air filter and it was oiled up pretty good.

I've put it through about 8 heat cycles, just warming her up, and then letting it cool off again. Don't know how many more times I should do this...

Any other suggestions before I take flight on Sunday?

Man, this is the coolest feeling in the world!!!:p

Ride it like you stole it,

I wish I could. 12 weeks ago I separated my ACL and I am about 75%. So, no race pace stuff, but you better believe I will be out there on Sunday breaking her in "lightly" :p shhhh, don't tell my girlfriend:D
