passing/inside line??

I am your basic old/slow C class rider. Up until recently my approach to cornering has been staying to the outside so that I can carry a little speed in a higher gear, work the clutch a little and have enough speed to clear whatever obstacle there is coming out of the corner. The problem is that this seems to be the approach of every old/slow C class rider. So when I try to pass on the inside I have to slow down more and go into a lower gear coming out of the corner. I usually make the pass successfully but then do not have enough drive coming out of the corner to clear the next obstacle. Any suggestions??

Try this:

Rear brake slide the bike around the corner quickly - you'll come almost to a complete stop, but it's much faster than trying to just ride the inside line. Get back on it as soon as the front wheel is pointed in the right direction.

I know that this may seem obvious, but go faster in the corner.

MX bikes handle better the faster you ride them, it actually allows the suspension to work. Just come into the corner a little hotter than normal, push on the outside peg, and lean that bike over. It'll stick, you just have to commit.

Instead of taking the inside line the whole time, try going outside-inside. This will also help you carry speed through the corner.

and don't just stick to the one line...mix it up and be able to ride every line on the track to give you as many options as possible when passing. just watch for the other guys and don't do something unpredictably stupid. people hate that.
