My son's 02 KX 85 has an oil leak coming out around the counter shaft area. Not a whole lot of oil, overnight maybe 2 cc on the garage floor. I took off the sproket, sleeve and o ring seal and replaced with a new one. I just got one at the local ace hardware that looked the same size but it still leaking. Where do I go from here? Local shop wants to tear down to give a looksee but I never take our bikes to a shop as they are usually clueless. Could there be an internal seal inside the cases that would mean splitting them to replace?

could be leaking around the seal that the sleeve goes in. is there a groove worn in the sleeve? Perhaps the new o-ring got nicked putting it in. its real easy to nick when it goes over the notch for the circlip. also if the new o-ring is not the proper dia it can leak since it requires a tight fit getting the sleeve pushed up against it by the sprocket. and I've even seen guys put the sleeve in backwards. wedged end in toward the o-ring is proper.
