piston rings which one on top?

installing a new top end. looking at the ring set ( stock kawasaki part) one wear edge is shinny and on the other ring the wear edge looks dull. the "R" on one is easy to read the and the other hard to see. Does it matter which one on top and bottom?

Shinny on top and the dull on the bottom. Any number or letters face up.
