My daughter is a big 10 year old and I was thinking of getting her a bike. Instead of paying $1300+ for a CRF70 or 80, could she ride one of the smaller pit bikes that you see on e-b@y for around $500-600 (chinese bikes)??

I have heard that some of those are not very good, BUT......

I bought one off of XXX Motorsports on the internet, and its been just great!!
My 10 y.o. stepson just loves it!
Its a 110cc automatic clutch, and it pulls him around just fine.
And at 130 lbs, he's a big boy!
As long as she's not gonna compete at Moto-X id say go for it!

Nothing wrong with the idea provided you understand the limitations of the bike, the level of build quality at that price point being VERY low and the strong possibility that obtaining parts that are not generic fit could be a major hassle. As long as it's just a putting around type deal it shouldn't be a major headache but if it starts to get hammered like a full on pit bike it could get either frustrating trying to find parts or dangerous as key pieces such as the frame, foot peg bar or triple clamps could break. Even out of China there are different levels of quality and the really cheap stuff is cheap for a reason.
