places to live in san antonio near med school

got into school in san antonio. looking for a good area to live near the medical school. can you all recommend neighborhoods that are within five miles (i ride my bike to school). i am looking for a house with a garage (for the bikes) that would not be terribly expensive for myself and a roommate or an apartment with a garage. thanks for the input.
