I have a 90 Ktm which is white. The plastic is stainded and i was wondering if there is anything that will clean or bleach it back to or close to orignal cond.
I doubt it, especially if it is on the fuel tank. Those stains stay forever. Mop-N-Glow floor wax is great for making everything shine. Household bleach or chrome cleaner helps a bit, but hardly worth the effort.
Coincidentally, I was going to post a thread about some excellent results I've achieved cleaning my plastic which was very badly stained and nothing would seemingly work.
Cutting to the chase, I used McGuire's Cleaner/Wax on it and holy cow, it almost made the plastic look new. Or at least it would with some more elbow grease. I'm thrilled with the results. My rat bike doesn't look so bad now...
I have a Yamaha TT225 with white plastics and have had great results cleaning the plastics with wire wool and using oil to lubricate it as i scrub the plastic. If you do this use a linear motion and use fine wool
use comet, soft scrub or something of that sorts and a scrub brush to get it clean. Should come up nice and white although the fuel tank will probably be off just a shade. But it will be on the dull side I have heard of mop-n-glow will bring the shine back but I never tried it. PC Renew works great for a shine but gets scrungy looking quick if you spill gas or use harsh chemicals on the bike. I use Armor All or auto wax to try and get some of the shine back plus it makes next clean up easier.
My brother has a '98 XR80 that is all white. We figured out a miracle way to clean EVERYTHING off them......go to Wal-Mart and go into the camper section. Pick up some "Black-Streak-Remover" its made to clean stains from water running off the black rubber roof of a camper. Give it a try, its worth $3 :p
Oxy clean...the stain specialist! okey i hate that slogon to, but it really does work. When washing your bike in general too, put that in your soap/water mixture.
I finally got the pastic clean, I went to wally world and got some castrol super clean and scrubbing pads and it worked awesome, i used engine degreaser for the spooge, worked great
Soft Scrub with bleach or Westley's Bleche-Wite. (That's how it is spelled, I promise!) I prefer the Bleche-White because I can also use it to spiff up the letter tires on my truck. I have had good luck with both of these products on white plastic. Put it on, scrub it in and wash it off with soap and water.
