I have a kx250 that needs a new top end and cylinder re-plating. I dont have enough money to have it replated. Is it okay to just get rings and a piston, and run it until I can have it plated? The plating is just nicked in a few places around the ports.

You can try, but the cylinder will probably just get worse, and could eventually lead to seizure. If your on a budget, lukes racing in PA does an inexpensive plate job ($150 with free shipping). www.lukesracing.com.
