Please Help!!

This will be my first time bike. I have ridden friends 00 kawasaki 125 2-stroke and 04 honda 250 4-stroke. Since I bmx I realized I was surprisingly good at racing when at the track.


I'm looking to buy a 2008 brand new Suzuki RM 250, RM-Z250, or RM-Z450...

I noticed that the 2008 250 2-stroke and 4-stroke are the same price. Does this mean that the 4-stroke is now as fast as the 2-strokes? Also on Suzuki's website it says its the last year of making the 250 2-stroke, this mean 2-strokes are done and 4-strokes will take over? Or should I just skip ahead and buy a 450??



So I need help with which one to buy!

I find the two strokes are more reliable, and easier to work on. but it all depends on your prefference.

what im basically asking would be............are 2008 250cc 2-strokes faster than 2008 250cc 4-strokes?

Do a "search" on this topic. I'm sure you'll find the results. Also, didn't Transworld motox magazine do this study?

Their consensus was that the 250 2t was super fun, the 450 owned the track because the power made up for any lack of experience. And that the 250 4t was all in the middle...laptimes were not different between the 2t and the 4t.

It was all a matter of preference, and rider ability.

The 250 2t does have more power than the 4t.

depends on where your riding. i think that in a 5 mmile stretch of flat road, the 250 4 would eventually be faster. but in a any short amount of space the 250 2 strokes acceleration would blow it away. and yes the 2 has more hp. im biased though, i think 2's are wayyyy funner

The 4t is not nearly as agressive as the 2t. The 4t is easier to ride fast on a track. The 2t will tire you out quicker. They are both high maintenance, but the 4t can be MUCH more expensive to repair. Seeing as how you are buying new, the 4t shouldn't need anything more than a piston for the first hundred or so hours if you take good care of it. I would not suggest a 450.
