Quieter muffler for Suzuki DR400?

Hey folks, I've got a mid-80's Suzuki DR400 that I'm having a blast on. Problem is it's a bit too loud, especially when I'm out with a group. Do you know of any quieter aftermarket mufflers or exhaust systems available for the bike? How about something I could pull off another bike at the motorcycle boneyard? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

I've got the same problem as you. I own a XR250 with an open exhaust and it's loud! But then again, my mate has got a 2001 model and his is just as loud with a stock exhaust and all. At the moment when I ride around town I keep the revs low which helps cut decibels down but I still had a complaint at 4:30 in the afternoon.
I've never seen a DR400 80s model. I knew someone with a DRZ400 and that was loud due to the nature of the bike.
Whats the spark arrestor like on yours? Is the silencer filled with insulation?
If it's a racing exhaust, that might be the reason. You could always try making an muffler or buy a factory one for the roads.
