Re Doing My KX100 Frame

What you want to do is sand it down right to bare metal. A wire brush drill bit is good for this. Then spray some degreaser on it just before you are about to paint it. Wipe it down and prime it. For primer I would suggest Zinc Chromate or its somthing like that. For paint if you want the matching coulor use PJ1. If you want a longer lasting paint I would suggest industrial machinery paint. Its pretty cheap and its pretty tough stuff. Give it a few coats and your good to go.

BTW, while you have it all apart you should grease up all the bearings and clean everything up for your prospective buyer. I know if I was buying a bike I'd appreciate that, it could quite possibly make the sale knowing thats one less thing I have to do before I ride. :cool:

Degrease it before you sand,You don't want to sand any contaminates into the paint!! You can feather out all the bare metal or scratches out with 400 wet-dry paper and water-wire brush any rust(on a drill) then take a scotch brite pad and some comet or ajax and wash the hole thing GOOD!!! wash again with soap and let dry.Put a lite coat of etching primer on the bare metal spots, let it flash(dry to touch) and then paint the hole thing. pj-1 works fine for what you are doing! Other than that ,the best way is to sandblast the intire frame and start from scratch!! Tape any oringinal sticker off,and protect them(it makes the job look best!!)
