My 87 CR500's rubber stop at the base of the Showa rear shock, bottoming damper??, is gone. Will the shock be prone to damage with this piece missing? I just dropped a lot of money in it bring it to spec and now this. From what I can tell from the service manual, I will have to rebuild the rear to install a new unit.

Thanks in Advance,
Mav

Yes, you'll have to remove the shaft to replace the bumper. I would get it fixed before you ride it otherwise you risk shock, frame and bootie damage.

If you can do it yourself parts are available from places such as Mx-Tech.

Thanks for the info. I can probably do everything except recharge the shock. So I will probably have to pay the stealer to do that service. Hopefully, just a few bucks.

Thanks Again!
