rear wheel retainer clip?

While I was replaceing my rear wheel bearings we accidentally snapped the retainer clip do I need this for the reinstallation of the new ones :bang:

You can install the bearings into the hub before putting in the clip, but I'd replace the clip before putting the wheel back on and riding the bike.
