I'd like to start servicing my bike's suspension myself, but I'd like to know exactly what tools I need in order to do the work properly. Any recommendations?
I would like to become proficient at both. I understand they probably require different tools (nitrogen tank), but I wanted an idea of what I needed for each.
For the forks its easiest to get a impact wrench to remove the base valve-other wise you need to buy about 3 differant holding tools-a fork seal driver is needes-mine does 45/46/47mm forks(says its for 46/47mm)-that covers alot of modern forks.
On the shock you need a nitro rig-you can get all the parts from a welding supplier.Shims are available at many places but add up to some serious money if you have a reasonable range.Dont think of trying to work on KTM PDS shocks-the job is a nightmare and the tools neeed will break the bank.
A parts washer is very usefull.
Cant think of much more but im sure others can add a few.
