What is the concensus on the new coated metallic gaskets, when I do a top end rebuild should I repalce all of the gaskets or can I reuse the metallic ones i.e. base gasket? They seem pretty durable in comparison to the old paper gaskets. Any thoughts and or comments?

when you do a topend rebuild doesnt it include changing all gaskets!? well i suppose if they are fairly new and you MUST re use them it would be 'OK' but you really shouldnt ever Re-use gaskets.... its just best that you buy new ones.. so run down to your loca shop and pick up a topend gasket set!

Any time that you remove a part that requires a gasket always replace the gasket. Unless you have not ran the bike or torqued it down. When you torque down on a metallic gasket it crushes it, thereby creating your seal. I would get new gaskets.:D

You can use metallic ones over again, but you need to spray them with a special copper gasket sealer. You're better off just spending the $25 or so for a new gasket set.
