Planning on riding Sun 04/24/05 10:00 am. Plan is to park off Cabrefe ski resort road (off M55) and riding CCC south to Walker bridge (10 mile road at pine river) and then back (13 miles each way-all single track.) Then checking out the CCC trail heading north from 55. Break for lunch, load up, then head to Long lake and Missauke Junction (Just north of Caddilac) another 45 miles of single track. Should be excellent conditions. Any takers?

Hey Trevor. Could you do me a big favor on your ride?

I will be up to Caberfae next weekend 4/30 to do trail maintance on Caberfae with the WMTR. Could you try and keep a count and general location of the downed trees in the trail that you encounter. This will help is tremendiousely in our planning. I am mainly interested in the trees that need to be chainsawed out of the trail. The smaller stuff that can be dragged off isn't as important. We will still get the smaller stuff out of the trail but the chainsaw work is what I am interested in the most. We have to do south of 55 to Lincoln Bridge and north of 55 to 30th street (you need plates to run past this point)

Thanks

Will do. Question for you; what is the trail like north of 55? I've always turned around at that point. I'm plated so that's no issue, but prefer single track and definately no pavement.

The trail to the north is just as good as the stuff to the south. It's all single track till you hit 30th street. You can go north maybe 7-8 miles I am guessing before you hit 30th street. From there on its 2-tracks for about another 5 miles till you hit 115. At 115 north for maybe 6 miles is brand new tight virgin single track that was just laid in last year.

Hey I got a question for you. You say its 13 miles from Caberfae to Lincoln Bridge (Walker Bridge) Does this include the 5 mile connector trail that comes out of the Caberfae staging area? I was just arguing with a buddy that thought it was more like 5 miles for the connector then 15 miles down to the bridge (total of around 20 miles one way). But I could swear that it was more like the 13 miles that you talked about. I was just looking at the map and counting the squares puts me at around 11 miles so that 13 miles you mentioned sounds about right. That 5 mile connector trail that my bud quoted looks more like about 3.5 miles on the map.

I think it's 13 miles from 55 to walker bridge (not including the connector to the parking) I think the connector is even shorter than 3 miles. I'll put the gps to it this weekend and let you know.

The Caberfae MCCCT connector (from the parking lot to the main trail) is 4.6 miles.
From M55 to Lincoln Bridge it's 11.2 miles.
From M55 to M115 it's 17.3 miles.
M55 to 30th Street 11 miles.

I think we have a Sunday ride in the works and Caberfe sounds good to me. The trail North of 55 is good, may be a little tighter than to the South. 10 miles North of the connector is Boone. We thought the trail ended there but it goes further North. I want to explore that area and find the most northern parking spot. If this goes as planned I should be able to cut drive time in half. Home to Caberfe trail in 30 min. :nener: now that would be sweet.

Thanks chief. Somehow I knew that you would pipe in with the milages

I am bringing my 8yr old along on the Caberfae trail mainentance and didn't want to overdue the milage for him. He has lots of zip. But he tends to peeter out at about the 20 mile mark. I think I am gonna load him up with someone else and send them off to Caberfae. Then stash my truck at Lincoln Bridge. I can then dual sport the X up to Caberfae parking lot and ride on down with him to the waiting truck
Hey KTOOM125 if your out there this will be a good ride.
Sounds like a good ride for sure. I responded to trevor on KTMTalk, didn't realize he posted the same question here (lots more responses here by the way).
Doug Downer (from TC) used to meet us at the Boon Rd parking area - then we'd ride both north and south from there. (26 miles north and 34 or more south- mileages are up and back, down and back, totals). I'm sure your hauling your bike distances would be much shorter than going all the way to Caberfae.

I'll try to talk our group into Caberfae (or Boon rd) for this weekend - no enduros to run so there'll be several more guys riding.

I plan to go to Cabrefe parking as it is the only spot that I know and I will be making a 3 hour commute to get there.

For anyone else that might need to know - the Boon Rd parking is just north (and a little west) of the village of Boon -- blacktop road that goes north/south thru Boon (we call it Boon Rd which might be wrong without having a map handy to look it up) - anyway that road goes north thru Boon and makes a bend to the west - follow it west until the MCCCT trail crosses the road - parking is on the north side just up a short hill off Boon Rd.
Distance from Boon itself is maybe 3 1/2 or 4 miles.

Checked a map, Boon Rd. or Cabrefe makes no difference to me. Looks as though it may be a wee bit chilly, I'm still going....... Let's hear it; who thinks they are going to make it and which parking do you want to meet at? I won't be able to check this site past Friday afternoon, so the sooner we can decide on parking the better.

T. Medley - 2; either parking works

Looks like you guys will need the screws back in the tires for this weekend! Hey Duckboy, I'm in Flint, I would have car pooled with you, but with the snow on the way, I'm sittin this weekend out. Sometime in May, I would like to get up to Rose City/Mio area. Would you be interested in that?
