Quick question guys:

I'm wondering if I have to split the cases to replace the crank seal(s) on the 2002 RM 125/144?

I've got a manual at home, but haven't looked at it yet.

Bike has seemed to smoke somewhat more than other bikes ever since I got it. Plus, my oil level drops slightly - have to add a bit every couple rides. . .

Thanks

Rob

No, you don't. Only Kawasaki's have seals that require case splitting to replace them. Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki are installed from the outside, and only require that parts be removed to access the seal, not case splitting for replacement.

Sweet - I guess I'll need to check it out. Is it more likely to be the left or right or both?

Well since you said smoking and oil level dropping, it has to be the right side to cause that. The left side is dry, as there is no oil around your stator. It's not a bad plan though to change both out at the same time, just in case, as they do wear out.
