rm & rmx Q's... timing, fuel consumption

i have a 94 rm250 i just had the transmission gears out... is the timing set by gear? i'm not sure if i need to worry about it..

also, i ride my 94 WR250 with a 94 rmx 250. i'll use maybe a quarter of a tank in the amount of time he uses three quarters of a tank. no fuel leaks...

any info would be great.

Nope, it's set with the stator.

No engine timing is set with the transmission gears.

hmm, but the only way to change that due to the stator axle being the keystoned drive shaft is to remove the gears as it shares the same shaft that has been removed thus changing the timing set by the gears correct?

No.. the stator is under the flywheel.. It doesn't have gears on it.

You don't normally have to even remove the flywheel. There should be 3 or 4 screws holding it inplace, loosen them and move the stator.

Get a service manual for your bike, it'll detail the specifics.
