RM125 falls out of neutral

Hey guys, I just bought a 1996 RM 125 and I am having issues with the bike slipping out of neutral into 1st gear when I first start up the bike. When I took it for a test drive before I bought it I did not have this issue. It is also becoming more difficult to find neutral as well. If anyone has any ideas that would be great! Thanks guys!

When the bike idles in neutral the shifter just rattles itself into gear. When the bike is in neutral it only takes the lightest tap to send it into 1st. The bottom end was just rebuilt a few months ago, could a spring have been missed maybe???
