Shift shaft modding ?

i recently bent my shift shaft while hitting jumps , i had to cut it out of my engine.
i have a spare shift shaft but the top mount is different,

i was wondering if i could use a metal laith to cut the welds then switch the mounts then re weld it to the good shaft.
think it will work?

Shift shafts aren't that expensive.

If the shaft is the same diameter, the same length and has the same splines as the old shaft it will work.
