I recent got a new pair of boots and befor i adjusted my shifter i wanted to know where it should be. like should it be so that my boot fits between the shifter and the fot peg or even with it???? this is a area where im a blond at and cant figure out for the life of me... i know how to adjust it just now how much :eek: :)

There isn't a "right place". Place the shifter where it feels best to you. Personally, I like tight fit, i.e. the shifter about even with the foot peg.

Hmmm.. I was thinking you might go harder on this question seeing as you bothered to reply :) Hehe yeh, the right place for the shifter is where it works for you (within it's workable limits). Cred to this guy for admitting the blondeness :cool:

ok but quick question if i make it even with the foot peg how do i shift up use the toe tip? origionally i had it so it was like a shoe and when im riding i just have to moove the tip of my foot up and it will shift up but the chain gurd is in the way can i cut it so it will work

There is no right place. It depends on your riding style. Do you sit or stand up most of the time? You will want the lever in a position where when you are in your normal riding position your boot will not accidently shift the bike. You should be able to make a shift without lifting your boot off of the peg or bending your ankle too far down. Sometimes with new boots it's just a matter of getting used to the boots.

Modifying the guard or even removing it will help and sometimes making the shift lever longer will help.
