should there be a gasket here?

99 yz 125, I noticed tonight that there was no gasket between the v-force reed cage and the engine block. could this contibute to my stutter problem? The cage is hard plastic agaist aluminum. If so could I make a gasket out of cork sheet?

You can get gasket paper at an auto parts store and cut one out with a razor blade or exacto knife set for allot cheaper than buying one from the bike shop. Just trace it with a pencil then trim. As for the stutter, I would try a gasket first, and yes, there should be a gasket there.

yes there should be a gasket there - there should be a gasket between the block and the v-force and between the v-force and the boot that hooks to the carb

My 95 just has a small poly (or urithane?) ring there.
