Shouldn't I get it back?

I resently asked about boring my bike out and thought to myself shouldn't I have gotta my old cylinder back when I got it replaced?.
this fall i took out the cylinder so I put a new one in but shouldn't the shop have given me the old one back?. Just wondering.

Unless it was in bad shape, they would bore the cylinder you sent them.
