i repacked my silencer last week and a mate told me today that instead of buying muffler packing u can just use insulation from in a ceiling, i don't really believe him but they are kinda made from the same thing aren't they? can anyone else prove my mate is bodgy?

I was thinking the same thing, It would save some $$$. But then it occurred to me that ceiling insulation may not be as resistant to heat as the real stuff. I'd hate to have a fire in my tailpipe!!!

Just my 2 cents.

You can use regular fiberglass house insulation but it tends to clog up faster. There's no danger of fire.

Silent Sport/Race Tools has muffler packing products designed to fit the silencer of the specific bike. High tech stuff.

I've used regular house insulation for a long time.
I don't know about the longevity compared to the expensive stuff but I change it at least once a month so it's not a big deal.
It has served me well cost wise also.

I used Pink Panther last night on mine, a small roll was <$5.00 and will do 5-6 repacks. It seems to work just fine!!!

Thanks for the heads up!
