I recently dropped the needle clip 1 notch. Then when everything was assembled i tested the trottle to make sure everything was woking right. and it wasnt. I tried to fix it by making sure the nothch on the spring went into the slop for the clip holder, everything is in the right spot, and i did what i usually did when i change the needle position. So the problem is like i said when i open the throttle and then let it come back on its own it returns, but VERY slowly. It is a mikuni carburator.

Check your cable routing. When the carb was rotated to change the needle clip, you may have caused the cable to get boubd up under the tank.

Sounds tto me like ya need to take the thing apart and re-assemble. You probably have something assembled wrong and it is hanging up. When you turn the throttle does it feel free> If it isn't returning with a snap then something is hanging up.
Either the slide is catching or the throttle cable is kinked.. That's just a guess on my part..

Did you try re-doing it? Something is binding the slide or some junk got under the throttle tube maybe? Cable is good? If you did some yanking on the cable, check the routing, maybe too sharp a bend somewhere. Shouldn't be too tough to figure out, just take it one step or component at a time.

take the slide off of the cable and check the throttle then, if its free then its the slide. Then you can put the slide in the carb and move it with your finger with out the cable attached. Another thing is did you clean the slide when you took it out? The gas/oil mix also acts as a lubricant. Maybe install it with a little coat of 2cycle oil and try it then. Oh yea, I just might have figured out your problem, bent needle I bet!!

ok well i took the slide out and checked the needle..it is perfectly straight. I then tried something. I took the needle holder out of the slide and i just attached the throttle cable and spring to the clip holder. I tried the throttle again and it is still happening. when i have just these things out it looks as though there is not enough throttle cable because the spring is bending??? This is why it is slow to come back but i dont know how to adjust this?

Methinks the throttle tube is dragging on the handlebar. I had this happen after I powerwashed my bike one day. I took it off cleaned it up real good and put it back together... no problem.

That's my bet anyway....

Marc,
Take the cable out of the throttle housing. Pull it to full extension and release it, it should snap back. If it doesn’t then it's not the throttle housing. Work your way to the carb. You’ll find the problem.

Marc,
I think the problem is the exhaust and the V force, I suggest you send them down here and I'll do a one-year evaluation on them for you. Better yet just send the bike down, that should only take me about two years to ride the living%^%* out of... I mean fix the throttle.

:p

marcv125,
The little platstic thing that holds the spring and goes inside the slide....turn it until the little detent drops into the slot (hard to see, inside the slide).
This being just a tad out of the notch will cause what you describe.

Sounds like it is in the throttle housing or tube someplace. The tube may have become gummed up and won't spin freely. Take the entire throttle assy off the handle bars and throughly clean it. When you put it back together just use a very light oil like WD40 on the bar under the tube. Use light grease, sparingly, in the housing section.

Good luck
