Anyone want to go to the high desert on Sunday? I'd like to do a medium-length loop from Hodge Rd. (north of Victorville) to the Slash-X and back.

Then on the 25th something out at El Mirage for Shorty and his new (to him) bike; it's been over 2 years since he's ridden.

And finally on the following weekend, the 28th or 29th.

So there you have it: 3 possibles. Any takers?

It is supposed to rain Tuesday might - perfect for a Wednesday ride.

Directions (for you): 14 north to Pearblossom Hwy (138) offramp. Head east. Turn left (kinda straight; 138 curves to the right) onto Palmdale Road (18) split. 9.5 miles to Sheep Creek Rd; turn left (north). Sheep Creek abutts El Mirage road; turn right, go for two miles, then turn left in entrance. Continue north on entrance road. At ~3 miles in there will be a concrete foundation within sight on the left-hand side; look for a white T-100 with two yellow bikes, gray T-100 with a gray KTM or green KX.

Our arrival time will be 8:30-9 am.

If the forecast sez the dez doesn't get rain Tues evening, our backup is either Baldy Mesa or Gorman/Hungry Valley/Los Padres (highway patrol was escorting yesterday; they got snow!) Look for last-minute postings Tuesday evening ~9 pm.

We want to ride on the 28th and/or 29th. The FIL is getting an XR400 for Christmas and we want to take him out for the first ride. We thought about Landers or Bell Mtn.

If you guys plan something - keep me informed please! We'd love to join in.

Gogoja: no rain tonight nor tomorrow, and no bike for Shorty, so no El Mirage just yet. Maybe Jan. 1st.

Therefore tomorrow's ride (Dec. 25) will be based at the main entrance of Hungry Valley (Gorman off ramp. need directions?), from the paved parking lot. We will arrive between 8-9am, more likely near 9. Look for a white Toyota and two yellow bikes.

Anyone else coming?

Son woke up sick, so it's me only. And as such, I'll be there closer to 8:30, perhaps sooner.

I've a sore throat - may or may not ride but at least will bring out son #2 (Shorty) to ride around camp.

Say: I think we will join in - if I'm better by then, and I don'd see why not. It's been years since we did Pinnacles (if that's what you had in mind); only did it once before but it's sure nice up there.

How many miles will your loop be? I may need to mount my big tank if it's >50.

What is the spot we would meet or stage? My forest pass expires on the 1st, but I would get a one-day pass beforehand to avert a ticket.

I stage at the Dam at lake Silverwood, past Pilot Rock, then on to Deep Creek and back. The ride is sub 50 mi, I think about 38 to 42 have been my GPS stats. My friend is a little rusty, hasnt ridden here and I imagine will be a little slow but should do OK. I make it on my 250E with plenty of fuel to spare and it is still a little fat.

see how you feel, I think I had that ick right before x-mas and I still have a small cough no big deal though.

I should be better by then, based on how I feel today.

What time do we meet?

I've never been to the dam, so I figured just to look for the KTM and ? kind of tow vehicle?

White Toyota, two yellow or one yellow, one green bike.

I was out at Pinnacles on Saturday. Lots of snow out there! My bike has never been so muddy.

time I am not sure exactly yet but I am thinking aobut 8:30 at the dam parking.

I drive a 2001 F-150 super crew dark blue, 98ktm250e, easy to spot. The parking lot is about 15 cars big so no problems finding anyone. If anyone doesent know the staging area, a meeting could be made at the McD's. I am not sure about red sticker, but I think it is ok now. I was there without an adventure pass and the rangers just waved and drove on, I am not sure it is needed there.

OK: 8:30 am it is. I think I can find the dam parking alright.

So it's our leader, 2Strok4fun & a friend, Thumbs, Placelast & Jr.; maybe a Scar for this Wednesday.

Hey guys.... you oughta go talk to your local BLM law enforcement guys about the red sticker deal. I was told that BLM does NOT enforce the red/green sticker rules. They are only concerned that your bike is registered. Furthermore, the red/green sticker rules are soon to be repealed.
