Reed did not look good,, Definitly was more tentative than last week.. In his heat he had what appeared to be a pain moment. The turn just before the whoops he just straightened up and drove off the track, he was in second at the time. He just skipped most the whoops, let two guys (Wey and Evans) by and got back on the track in fourth. He should have just there and qualed, but he tried to get back in front of them and tangled with Evans and went down.. Just left the track after that.. Came back and won his semi but never went to the podium, went straight back to his trailer. The team manager came up and said CR was just in too much pain at the moment.

Main event Bubba was on fire,, pulled RC about second a lap for the first 10, and both were way ahead of anyone else, I stopped keeping track after that.

The track had a couple of weird timing sections with both jumps of different sizes spaced at different lengths. One was a triple with a small jump a big jump and another small jump before a corner. The first small jump wasn't big enough to let them triple/triple into the corner so most were doubling after the triple, doubling over then rolling the last one to the inside of the R/H 90 corner to set up for a double into a L/H 180. Some were staying outside on the R/H 90 which turned the jump before the L/H 180 into a step on step off. A couple of riders were slowing after the triple going off the first small jump, landing on the face of the bigger jump and gassing it to hop off and over the third jump into the corner. Everyone that did that always went to the inside on the R/H 90.
I kept thinking if someone would do the hop over rail the outside of the R/H 90 rail and do the step on step off L/H 180 it might be faster and it would put them on the inside of the 180. But no one ever tried it that way.

Bottom line was the only two that didn't have shaky moments in those two sections were JBS and RC. Even Tedseco and Wey would clip the front tire and slow from time to time trying to clear the tall jump launching from the little one after the triple.

Reed got a poor start, 7th, ,, then Windham went by him pushed him back to 8th. Then Preston went by puting him in 9th. After the first 6 or 7 laps he seemed to get in a groove and started going faster. He worked his way to 5th but just wasn't catching Tedesco fast enough for 4th.

Windham was as fast as Tedesco and Wey for the first half of the race and then faded, ended up 8th, the last person lapped by Bubba. We all know, practicing and racing are not the same thing. I'd guess he will be back in shape and make the podium by the end of the season and be ready for outdoors.

First time I've been to the Citrus Bowl, parking sucks, traffic control is minimal, still I managed to get back to the freeway within about 50 minutes. Would have been sooner if we had taken the SUV, but in the car I couldn't follow all the trucks off the curb to leave and had to actually go to the parking lot entrance.

It's not like Daytona where I know the back roads and can get to the freeway an exit up in about 20 minutes after I get to my car and be ahead of everyone that tried to leave using International Speedway Blvd.

kinda quiet in here when #7 comes in #1....silly people!

....exactly. It's getting a little old, people. He's benign, he smiles, he's technically the greatest ever....yeah. Let's hate him.

Sounds like Reed was riding hurt. AC separations blow.

Did RC pull up?

I wouldn't say pulled up, but he didn't put his head down and fight like we've seen in the past. He was consistantly fast the whole race. I think he know Bubba was super fast last night and wasn't going to do anything stupid trying to catch him.

Both were on cruise the last few laps, looking at the lap times it appears Wey gained back about 10 seconds on JBS and RC in the last few laps and was still 30 seconds back.

JBS's best lap was 1.4 seconds faster than RC's best lap and that was 1.4 faster than the next best lap time by Tedesco.

It is because it was as predictable as the sun rising in the morning. Knowing that Ricky has such a huge lead, I knew he would go into cruise control mode, do people really think JBS is really 1.5 seconds faster than RC (when both are charging 100%)?

I guess you can wait for RC to retire or go to a race earlier in the year . . . ;)

Boy was I wrong. I thought RC would just go all out the rest of the year since it's probably his last.

Sometimes stewart is more than 1.5 secs. faster than Ricky, if you can't believe it then ask Ricky himself or checkout practice /heat races /main event laptimes.Bottom line is Ricky is one of the greatest MX/SX riders that have ever lived and James is headed in the same direction, whether he beats or breaks Ricky's records is not a big issue. I only wish Ricky can race 1 more season, if the money is good with suzuki. Can you imagine how competitive next season would be, with KW, CR, Tedesco, N Way,G Langston, Byrne, Ricky and James Stewart.

ya, sometimes James is faster (for one lap) and other times he is credited for being faster, then when looking at lap or practice times, RC is sometimes faster (not sure why the announcers ALWAYS play it up that Bubba is ALWAYS faster, when it just isn't the case. btw, I will agree, if they did a 1 lap race to see who is fastest, Bubba would probably win more times than not, problem is, the race is 20 laps.

I think we are gonna have to wait til outdoor season to see Ricky really hang it out there again (sad to say). Especially now that Reed is falling further back in the points.

Good to hear James has won another one (it's amazing how staying upright the whole race can make a difference). This win should boost his confidence.

It's a shame Chad's injured as I was really thinking he would be able to hold of James in the points standings as long as he kept finishing top 3.

The announcers are not playing it up for nobody, their laptimes are consistent with LIVE AT THE WIRE. Just to help you out checkout LIVE AT THE WIRE practice laptimes which comes on at 12 noon eastern time on race day and turn on the live webcast starting at 7 pm and compare the laptimes/best laptimes while listening to the web.I know it's hard for you to believe that James is a little faster, than it is for Ricky. You got to understand that Ricky has a lot more experience than James and a little closer in speed, that's why he is in the points lead and he is the GOAT.With atleast another year of experience on the big bike, James is the next guy without doubt.

Red,

I think you misunderstood my post, I DO know how to check lap times, in fact there are 2 race weekends that they said JBS was the fastest around the track but RC had lap times .2 or more of a sec faster (an example of this was as recent as Daytona when they kept saying JS had the fastest times in practice, etc....and in reality, RC was a 50.6 and bubba's best was a 50.8. Last time I checked 50.6<50.8 ;)

Stewart was definately on fire and smoked Ricky from the drop of the gate!! That being said however, I do believe if the points chase were closer, that RC would reach down into his bag of lucky charms and find more speed.
BTW, do you really think Ricky is going to say, "Yeah, I'm way ahead in points so I'm just going to put it on cruise control for the rest of the series, so don't buy tickets expecting to see a real race"

But I don't believe he is in protect mode yet, but he is willing to concede to second place earlier in the race.
