Spring size or weight

Bought a used 98 KDX, how do tell if either the shock spring or fork springs have been changed, or are factory originals? Is it stamped into spring some where? How do I tell?

I wiegh around 200+ fully geared, just want to make bike set up right for me can't see sending it off if it is close to where I need to be.

Not sure about the number being stamped on the spring, but I weigh 155lbs and and the front was so soft it was almost unridable. So at your weight I believe that it would be pretty obvious if they were stock. Anyway don't get new springs because someone tells you to, ride it around and see how it works for you. If you find that it is too soft then ask for opinions from others of your weight and riding ability about what they use. Now if someone knows an easy way to tell please disregard all the dribble that just came out of my mouth :laugh:

For the shock you can try adjusting the sag
