Stand for YZ250

Your probably all going to ask why the hell I would want to do this, :coocoo: but has anyone attached a stand to a YZ250? I do a lot of riding around my property and constantly stopping with nothing to lean the bike up against, and it doesn't like to lay on her side all the time, so I want to put a stand on it. Has anyone done this before, or is there a stand you can buy for it? Thanks!!! Oh and it is a 1988 model (if that helps).

It doesn't have one. I was under the impression that they didn't make kick stands for YZ250's. Do they? (If so I feel like a complete fool, but it would save me a lot of hassel)...

moose racing, i believe, makes a clamp on side stand. also, i think pro moto billet makes a bolt on one....maybe it's just for the wr-f's though

That's excatelly what I was after. It's amazing what you find out when you ask. Thanks everyone. (Now just to find a distributor in Australia that has one...)

ha yea....i cant tell you how many times i've beat myself up looking for the answer to a question, then broke down and asked on here, only to be answered in a matter of minutes haha. the internet is a wonderful thing

Yup yup. This forum is even more efficient than Google, I've decided. I can just ask on here and have people answer with answers specific to me, versus trying to learn on my own with Google. Amazing.

their is a guy that makes them & sels them on the bay search yz 250 stand i think thay go for around 48.00 there a clamp on deal.

Moto Billet
I had one of these on my YZ450F 03 and they are well made and a great addition. I still have it and it is for a 426. I had to modify the chain roller mount but only because the one I have was for a 426 and NOT a 450.
I would sell and ship for you, $75 USD + shipping. If you are interested, I'll take measurements of the mounting holes so you can determine if it will work. Like I said, I made this one fit the 450 by cutting off the lower chain roller mount and rewelding it 1/4" up from its origninal position and then shot some PJ1 Yamaha blue onto the frame. I'm not a real good welder but it worked great. The best part about the "Kick It" is that it mounts to the frame rather than the swingarm.

Well I've contacted Moose Racing, and this is what they said:

You should try Ballards in Penrith, or NF importers in Auburn. We don’t specifically list a kickstand for your bike, but I’ll attach the part numbers and measurements of the square clamp on stands. You can probably make one fit.

Pro Moto Billet also got back to me, but said they dont make one for an 88 YZ250. Here are the sizes from Moose...

Please explain these numbers to us dummies. Is the first number the stand length and then the swingarm dimensions?

First # is the stand length and the second # is the distance from Center-to-center of the mounting holes. The mounting holes are aligned with the subframe bolt and the lower chain roller bolt. The Promoto Billet mounts to these two stock bolt holes.
