Both Brown and Langston showed TP a thing or two about racing, and TP was the wunderkind then.

Travis was over 40 points in the lead in that series until he swapped @ Unadilla--it was all over for him. So no--there was no Langston or Brown showing him anything.

I wonder how all these top 125 riders would do in the 250 class - would Brown and Ryno even shape up - where would they be in the pack.

Where were you a couple years ago? Ryno's been on a 250 the majority of his career. He campaigned the CRF450 for the outdoors--and retired on one after a head injury.

Brown? He's TRIED to ride a 250 for SX prior to the East series the last couple years. Not his thing, although it would be interesting to see him on one in the outdoors. As it is now, he and RC train together @ RC's Florida home--not sure how that would work out if Brown joined RC for the 250 MX class.

brown isnt a 250 rider-indoors or outdoors-never has been and never will,
the KTM 250sx has many issues-it was developed by riders who didnt really know what they wanted-dobb wanted a big 125(and got more than he wanted) and crockard wanted and nice handling orange honda-between them they made the spawn of the devil. Its a very light bike so it skips around, its very powerful so its a beast to ride, the suspension doesnt seem to work as well as on the 125 or 4 stokes and no one seems to know why(probably because its too light and powerful)as well the chassis hasnt been properly tested(read rushed into production)so it doesnt handle very good. All these make it dangerous-doesnt mean you cant go fast on it-just shut your eyes and pray.

Reed will be the man in sx next year.

Thanks for the skinny on the 250sx Marcus
.
BTW, I agree with you that Reed will be the man next year in SX.
not saying that it will be a cakewalk for him , but I think that if he can grab the lead, RC wont be able to charge the pack for 2nd's as easily with Bubba and K-dub in the mix. I think Reed also knows that with Bubba coming up, his window of opportunity may be closing for an SX title, then again, maybe he will advance as well......

I don't remeber ever seeing Brown on a 250 outdoors. And Langston IS world class I have never said he wasn't. Langston beat Brown and Brown beat Langston. Two great 125 riders.

RC is the best ever. Bubba won't beat him. Bubba has no competition in 125's

Personally I don't think either the US Nationals or the current FIM Motocross GP are true "world" championships. The Nationals have the better riders (with a few possible exceptions), but can't really be called a world championship when all rounds are held in one country. It would be great to see a series similar to say, the World Rally Championship, with one event per country, on several continents, over a wide range of track styles and conditions. Of course to lure riders out of the US would take a lot of money, and perhaps would never happen, but gee it would be great!

The closest thing we get to a "world championship" event is the MXDN...when the factories and the FIM don't muck it up. Next on the list is our national series as it seems many of the worlds best end up here to test the waters. Alby did...won a title as well. Everts tryed only to get butt kicks and humiliated. Tortelli was a true sample of Europe's best...just wasn't to be. Reed is that next level down. In contention but won't make it happen here any more than he did over there. Pichon punched his way out of contention...if he ever really was and won a title over there. Smets wasn't even in the race when he had his camio ride at Southwick...Whats the trend? Better competition here than over on the other side.

There is a much longer list of top Euro's trying to see if the grass is greener over here than top USA National riders looking for higher levels of competition over there. Ryno is typical of the level that was looking for a better deal across the pond as he wasn't going to make it happen here. He's been the master of runner ups for a while. Guys like Trampas Parker didn't have a prayer here and did real well there. I think the highest level guy to make a real try was Broc Glover at the end of his career made a stab. Maybe Brad Lackey and Danny LaPorte (Both World Champions). The other trend? Top riders from here go over and win.

Conclusion. We have a world championship ..its the 250 Nationals. Championships are about riders and motorcycles, not locations.

i disadgree on many points you make-alby won the 250 title, langston won the 125 title, reed got 2nd in the world gps and got 2nd/3rd in the US, Smets rode with a injured groin and hardly trained all season, everts didnt get his but kicked when i remembered-he went to a new track, new country and did very well-a few more times at the track with the same riders and i think the results would be very different-trampas parker wouldnt do any good against MP/Everts or smets-he struck lucky in his timing of his move-also riders who do well on high speed tracks may show better in the gps than in the ama nationals-doesnt mean the standard is higher in ama-just means some riders suit different types of tracks-eg our gp boys probably dont like your outdoor sx track(the one in PA?)i think you underestimate how hard it is for gp riders to adapt to sx.

Beat who?

Lichtenstein

They may have a chance, but they will have to ride their best. Could also beat France since everyone knows they will lay down when the going gets tough.

Everyone knows that the US will run away with the MXDN no one else has a chance. People from other countries are jelous because they don't have any good riders.
