the barrel wouldn't turn, so i decided to buy a new barrel form KTM and install it....however, the old 1 won't come out.
got the pin out but where the pin was(in the hole), there is what appears to be another piece of metal behind it lodged in which was preventing the barrel from turning. any ideas on how to get it out??

Usually, you have to have the key to remove the tumblers. The barrel has to line up with the pin. Then you push the pin in and remove the barrel. If you don't have the key or the barrel won't move, you may have to drill it out. They are made from pretty soft metal and are easy to drill out. You could also check with a local locksmith to see if he has any ideas.

thanks mate. i got the barrel out but in the top right hole where the pin goes, there is a broken drill bit/piece of metal lodged in behind it and it won't seem to drill out...any ideas how i can get this out??
also, that hole where the pin goes has expanded so i need some way to fill it in...

Sounds like it's pretty messed up. Getting a broken drill bit out of that hole is going to be hard. Also, there is really no way of tightening up the hole that the lock goes in without shimming it with something. If the steering lock is important to you, you might be able to cut the whole piece off of the frame and have a new one made and welded back on. Most any machine or fabrication shop should be able to make you a new one. Check online to see if there is a machine shop near you that does 'Broaching'. The slot will have to be broached.

yeah, figured it all out. thanks for the advice though man. i just patched up the old hole with the drill bit stuck in it with JB Weld, it dried as a metal and then drilled a new small hole on the opposite side(top left) and put the pin in. I also ended up getting a hold of a new pin which is wider in diameter in case i need it :)
