Well, mine are in need of replacing, and i was looking through RM, and they have two different ones. The Pivot works are a "tapered" bearing for $45, and the All Balls are $30 for my bike. Anyone have any experience w/ replacing their stem bearings and which ones they used?

Tapered bearings have a better load carrying capacity and better resistance to impact damage. I'm supprised to see a ball bearing would even be offered and I would definately not use it. Brinelling is common in tapered bearings in steering heads and ball bearings would be even shorter lived.

All Balls is a brand name, I doubt they are actual ball bearings for that application. I could be wrong though.

pivot works is a good alternative to buying oem parts. The quality is there.

Buy whichever ones don't say made in China on them. Japan is ok, but USA will always be best for bearings.

From what I understand, All Balls make the bearings for both Pivot Works and Moose. I just picked up a set of stem bearings for my bike yesterday from my dealer and he told me.

None of those companies make their bearings, they buy them from a bearing producer like SKF, BCA, NTN, Timken, or more likely a no-name Chinese brand.
