Stiff clutch on a 1996 KX250

Hi all,

Hope you are all well

Hers my problem:-

The clutch on my kx feels really stiff, at first i thought it could be the cable so i have taken it off and oiled it but it still feels stiff so my next port of call was the actuator arm checked to see if that was bent but all ok. Third idea was a bent push rod that's all ok. So i am at a loss now :bang:

Any ideas or advise would be great.

mine was stiff up until the cable snapped. Now I have new cable and it is 5 times easier to pull in.

Hi all,

I have replaced the cable and it still feels as stiff as it did before, could it be any thing todo with the clutch spring was thinking about swopping them out for 125 spring, would this help or would it make it make the clutch slip to much.

you could try it but yeah they might be too weak try it though if you got a spare 15 or 20 bucks give it a try.

Take a look at fluid,2 much oil on the clutch will make it stiff. When u replace the cable did U follow the same path? Check out the clutch pack for abnormal binding. Good luck

pull it apart and have a look ,, only take 30 mins ,, :cool:

I'm thinking you're starting to get notches in your clutch basket?

Mine is a bit stiff as well. I think this is a symptom of the bike. Heavy clutch spring and clutch and flywheel on the KDX 250

Define Stiff? Hard for you to press/de-press the clutch leaver.... or does the clutch have no friction zone and act either on or off?

we need more details bro.
