Strange thing about Country Music

There’s this funny thing about country music. You see, eleven years ago I listened to nothing but country. Then I got married and I didn’t much care for it anymore. Oh sure I still liked some of my old favorites. But I couldn’t tolerate country radio very well. Fact is, every time somebody mentioned country music in a post, GSR would feel compelled to ridicule it. And oddly enough, I always kinda agreed with her.

But ever since my wife informed me that she would really appreciate it if I moved my old-ass out of her house, and that I should take all of my junk motorcycle stuff with me . . . I like country music again.

It’s a miracle!

I never quite understood why it affects some people that way. A long, long time ago when I was married, my wife, who always listened to "new music" stuff, went to work in a country radio station. I immediately noticed a change in her attitude and it wasn't for the better. She worked there for a few years before finding another job and almost as quick as her attitude changed when she went to work there, it changed back when she left.

My theory is that country music lyrics are more intelligible, meaning you can understand the words in the song. Most of the songs are written in reference to a real life experience and not unlike the media, contry music promoters know that most people thrive on the negative stuff so it's a popular topic. I personally pay no attention to what the artist is saying, just look at it as a story that happened to someone else. I'm in control of my own emotions and responsible for my actions so no kind of music has an adverse effect on my state of mind. I guess some people are not that way.

I am sorry to hear of your situation VD, if you are. ;)

Well Hell Wes,

Sorry to hear about the homefront, but I can understand it if she gave you the old, "It's me or the Falta Replica" routine........

If you need a place to stash 'em just say the word and the Vintage Liberation Relief Convoy will head west up 287 and 40.

Sorry to hear of the break up VD. I've always enjoyed a little Toby Keith mixed in with some Montgomery Gentry to smooth over times like that. I hope she's not the type to try and take a cowboy's horses from him.

Dang it Wes ... Just found the thread. Now we gotta go riding on the 19th/20th of next month. I'll bring my 400 odd C&W CDs. We can toast the good times.

Maybe none of my relationships have lasted because I have only listened to C&W and Blues for the last 30 years! Now I know.

Hang in there buddy.

Sorry to hear it Wes! :(

I know exactly what you mean about listening to country during certain emotional times in your life . . . been there too.

I don't mind country, I just prefer something else most of the time.

:( Something must be in the air. All is not well around SirT's place either. I haven't been on my bike in over a month and yet I feel like I'm in the biggest rut ever.

Keep your chin up Wes.
