strange vin on yz 250

:whoa: Hi, just wondering how to decode this vin on my yz 250 its MX-00079 on frame and 4mx00 on barrel, told it was 95/96 any one know?

Looks real strange . what is the exact number on the steering stem?

It is MX-00079 this is a uk bike never registered for road use.

vins are 17 digits. So either you have a really really old pile like pre 79 or you are not looking at the proper place.

Hi Number quoted is def in right place and number on barrel is MX00 I have attached some photos. Its not an old YZ coz I raced a 1979 mod in my youth!!

10th digit of the vin will tell you the year. But you have to first find the 17 digit vin.
