what is even more sad about spoiled 16 yr olds is that they often grow up and still expect their parents to do for them. my mom is in her mid 50s and she told me the other day how proud she was that me and my sisters got out of the house by 19 and never asked to come back. she says most of her coworkers that are her age have kids that expect 24/7 free baby sitting, money, homes, jobs and everything else. this is crazy!!! my parents provided what i needed.........maybe not what i wanted and i treat my kids the same way. sometimes im not popular with them when they look at what their friends have but i know its for their own good.

tx246-I hear ya. My sister took her sweet time growing up, but she finally made it and appears to be doing a great job at it! Married at 18 right out of high school, wouldn't hear anyone's advice that she wait. Divorced within two years, she spent the next 10 years going to college on the parents' dime, moving from place to place, switching majors, changing schools, losing credits (although she is extremely smart and an above average student). Finally graduated with her BSN almost three years ago and has been married to a great guy for almost two years now. They also have a cute little baby boy, my Godson, who is 6 months old. It just takes some folks longer to cut themselves loose.

Me-I joined the Marines at 17. :scream: Solely because I wanted to. :)
