A time of sorrow

Having watched Super Bowls my entire life (yeah, it's three years older than me) I normally didn't get too emotionally invested in what fear of copyright infringement now refers to as "The Big Game". It was just any other game -- albeit with more and better snacks -- even if the pregame show started on Wednesday.

This year it finally meant something. My team was finally IN! The only thing that has come as close is the Idaho Vandals winning their only bowl appearance against the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles in the 1998 Humanitarian Bowl. I felt numb last night after the game. Yes, there were bad calls, and everything seemed to favor the steelers (even the little segues with players holding the Lombardi tropy throughout the game), and it seemed scripted just to get Jerome Bettis a ring. But some of the blame lays on Seattle, since Jeramy Stevens seemed to drop a lot of important passes, and Hasselbeck (who normally is pretty good at time management) seemed a tad frazzled when it came down to the wire.

I know, it's just a game. But dagnabbit, the freakin' Seahawks were in the freakin' Super Bowl!

Here's hopin' they get back.

Couldn't agree more Pred. Couple dropped balls and some petty calls did them in. I'd be frazzled to if everytime you got close to the end zone it was called back. Push off and a couple holds.
You would have thought maybe in the 2nd half they would at least show the MVP with the Lombardi.

We got next year!

Only thing I got to say about that: Dan Marino and the Dolphins.

Let's hope Paul Allen opens up the wallet and keeps everyone around.

You must not have come back soon enough...I saw Alexander with the Lombardi right before 2nd half kickoff.

Finally everyone knows why Fast Willie got his nickname..dude was gone!

I have no idea. But I do think that the Rolling Stones sucked horribly and probably should have went ahead and lip synched....and probably figured out a way to show off Janet Jackson's boobie.

Yeah.....but it should have been the last as well. I would much rather see Janet's boob than an 80 year old man in a half shirt strutting all over the stage.

I thought both teams played pretty bad. Big Ben was pathetic. The thing the game proved to me is that Cowher (sp?) really is a great coach. That one Pass Interference call against Seattle was crap though.

As for the rolling stones, yeah that would've been cool if it were 1970 and we we're all passing a bong around. Those guys have lost it. The band looked like they could've played as extras in a zombie movie and wouldn't need any special effects or makeup. And honestly, Paul McCartney (from last year) wasn't any better. I don't know why they don't just have Joe Satriani come out and shred for a few minutes if they're worried about someone saying something bad? :)
