The following release is from Clear Channel...

Clear Channel Entertainment‘s Motor Sports division announced today they signed a five-year agreement with SPEED Channel to broadcast the THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series. As part of the agreement THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series will be positioned as the premier motorcycle property on SPEED Channel and supported by an aggressive national on and off-channel promotional campaign.

In 2005-2006, the 250cc races that air on SPEED Channel will receive next-day original airings. The 125cc race will be shown later in the same week. The relationship will utilize the substantial resources of Clear Channel Entertainment – Motor Sports and SPEED Channel to generate synergy and maximize efforts for the most successful television package the sport has ever seen. The on-air promotions and joint marketing efforts will be significant.

Although SPEED Channel will be the exclusive carrier of THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series, there is an option for Clear Channel to air several of the 250cc shows on a major broadcast network. The 2005-2006 network and schedule will be announced later this month.

“SPEED Channel’s commitment to supercross makes it the perfect home for the sport,” said Charlie Mancuso, president, Clear Channel Entertainment – Motor Sports. “SPEED Channel’s accomplished production and professionalism capabilities as well as our already existing relationship with SPEED Channel, which hosts our other motorsports properties – IHRA®, the AMA National Arenacross Series and Monster Jam® – reinforces our decision to place supercross on a network that is completely dedicated to giving its audience the best in motorcycle and motor sports coverage.”

“With the addition of THQ World Supercross GP/ THQ AMA Supercross Series, SPEED Channel’s portfolio of premier motorcycle properties is now complete,” said Robert Ecker, SPEED Channel VP of Programming. “We are extremely excited by this expansion of our existing relationship with Clear Channel, and we look forward with great anticipation to launching the first season of our new multi-year agreement this winter.”

An announcement about the broadcast team will be made later this month.
