Dennis Kirk is a motor cycle parts store, Mail order. Both the Tachs are listed in their dirtbike catalog. I don't know how perminant they are. I don't know how perminant anything is on a dirt bike. Youcan make a bracket for about anything with a small piece of alluminum and a hose clamp. You can also check them out online at www.denniskirk.com

They also sell aftermarket street bike parts. so I am sure you could find something. Also check out marine supplies stores. The problem is most Tachs are built for multible cylinder motors. Some small outboard motors are twin 2-smokes a Tach for them should work on a 4-Stroke single.

Tach

www.sendec.com has a small digital tach/hourmeter that is manufactured for single cylinder lawnmowers. I just purchased one to monitor RPM's while doing sound checks (94 dB @ 3500 RPM's here in MI). I believe they are about $39 or so plus shipping.

Sound Testing

We experimented with remote electronic tachs for sound testing (EIS and Scheffield brands). Didn't work reliably enough for us. Is your tach for testing at events or just for your own bike?

We are using vibrating wire DigiTachs for the sound testing. They work well in the hands of a skilled operator.
