Please tell me its not the heat exchanger attached to the ac unit? Tank water heaters are about history. Anyone building new, invest in a boiler system to provide ALL your hot water needs. Around here, that means no more shoveling!!!! The engineers(cough) do claim its the only system to actually save/ make you money, in the long run. The ac is set up a little different, but energy wise, more efficient than handling heat and cool. Propane is still the cheapest per therm for heating around here, how about Texas? I am still tempted to try out one of those "Amish" heaters, I have heard no bad news about them, yet? And am still on natural gas and forced air. I have a few electric heaters to help out colder areas. Gas or electric, it averages about 300 a month for a 1400 sq foot house, at the bottom of Lake Michigan, winter or summer. They compensate the prices to cover their arses. Vintage Bob
