I got a cold on Friday, and haven't been able to sleep well. I got up at 2 a.m. on Sunday, and WOW! man, it's full and bright! Too bad the telescope is in the trailer:uh At least I got two labs to keep me company during these loooong nights till this cold moves on! Right now, it's too darn cold to to even start the bikes!:( :( :(

Okay, THIS is NOT what I want to hear!!! :( TTRGuy and I are going to be out there next weekend by the way. Could you please make sure to arrange for some warmer weather while we're there? ;) Crap, I guess this means I'm going to have to go out and buy a coat!

I don't mide the cold to much. It sure beats 100 degrees in the summer, dry and dusty. We got about 2 inches of snow and freezing rain over the weekend and it seems to be melting off. They are calling for more overnight. I was pumped about riding on New Year's day. We have been restricted to riding in a small amount of land because of hunting season. The good trails open up tomorrow. If we don't get anymore snow I will be riding for sure. Please, keep you fingers crossed. Its about 30 degrees out now and overcast.

Rams?? Who are they? I thought the Steelers were the only "Real Professional football team". :p

mark me down for a few extra TTRGuy brownie points ;)

Back to the moon thing though, gnarlykaw, you should have seen it from our house. We've been wrapped up in some serious fog up on the mountain top where we live. The full moon looked really creepy but cool!

I was outside at 5 am on Sunday and watched the clouds blow eastward in front of the moon. A nice opening in the clouds appeared for a few minutes. The full moon was brilliant. I almost went back inside for my binoculars. I get a great view of craters with 40x lenses (being 5,300 ft above sea level helps also).

The temperature today was in the low 60s, there was a little wind and skies were mostly sunny.

I recently installed a 1971 CB350 speedometer that I picked up for $15 from ebay. Had a great ride today which included blasting down a wide, straight dirt road. I had to back off at 80 mph because the straight stretch of dirt was rapidly dwindling. I wish that dirt road was another 1/2 mile longer so I could record the top speed of my BRP.

I hope y'all have a safe New Year's Eve. :)

I understand that this is the best time to view Saturn. It has it's rings tilted at 16deg. which is supposed to provide optimum viewing. I think it is the big orangy looking one in the eastern sky. I hear binoculars is all one needs.
I'm too lazy to look.:)

Only problem is, with the moon as full as it is, it tends to wash out saturn. Jupiter's following pretty close and you should be able to see 4 of it's moons in a small telecope or good pair of binoculars.
