The "ping" sound

How do you tell the difference between lean jetting that makes the "pinging" noise and the noise that an aftermarket pipe makes?

I have a PSI pipe on my RM. It has a lot louder pinging sound to it than the stock pipe. Kinda like someone tapping on the side of the pipe. I'm sure part of the reason is the thinner metal versus the stock heavy metal pipe.

if it sounds like someone making popcorn in your pipe at idle it won't hurt.Probably too rich actually

If it sounds like someone shaking a can of marbles in your engine while you are accelerating up a hill thats the death rattle.

It's doing "popcorn" at idle.

Sounds fine in the rpm's.

Your original stock pipe probably sounded a lot like this when it was new.
Once its carboned up, the sound changes.
