The 172 is a very comfortable plane. Not as agile as the 152 but not as twitchy. I learned to fly in a 1949 Luscomb, metal skin with a 65 horse Lycoming. Stick and rudder, no flaps. Basic "T" instrument cluster. We could still outrun a Super Cub.;) It was later fitted with one NavCom and a transponder. It was a speed demon, 85 IAS, LOL. Moved up to a Cherokee 140 with full avionics. Kind of like going from a 75 Datsun to 06 Lexus.Papakeith said:yep, same here. setting best glide is ingrained in my mellon. I took the exam in a Cessna 172N.
