Due for new valves in my wr250f, I've heard differing opinions on lapping the valves in these motors, some say it wears away the hardened coating on the valve and makes it wear quicker?
You can't lap the OEM titanium valves. You recut the seats to the correct 45 degree angle and seat width using carbide tooling and check the seat contact on the new valve with Prussian blue. If you lap the valves and take the surface coating off you'll be buying valves again in short order.
